Each of our community workshops is designed to provide students a hands on experience in a specific historic trade such as Blacksmithing, Hand Tool Woodworking, Timber Framing, Forestry, Agriculture, etc. Full day and half day workshops are scheduled throughout the year. The minimum age to participate in a community workshop is 14 (unless otherwise specified).

SUMMER SCHEDULE 2025
BLACKSMITHING - cost $75 June 6 or 13 (ages 14-adult) 9am to 3pm Location: Agathos Classical School
- Drawing out, bending, upsetting, punching, hot cutting, and spreading - Create points, nails, leaves and more (depending on the skill and prior experience) - Skills with coal forge, hammer, anvil and blacksmithing tongs
FURNITURE MAKING - cost $75 June 13 (ages 14-adult) 8am to 2pm Location: Agathos Classical School
Students will learn the names and uses for tools and practice the skills in traditional joinery in the making of a simple stool
WOOD CARVING - cost $75 July 11 (ages 14-adult) 9am to 3pm Location: Agathos Classical School
Students will learn about the tools used in the form and shaping of basic utensils in the preparation of food from over 200 years ago and will learn to appreciate the details efforts that went into these simple utensils. Students will practice these skills while making simple kitchen utensils.
